LoL: Ocelote claims to be an ally of Karmine Corp, do you want the French team in LEC?
It's no secret that Karmine Corp dreams of joining the LEC to sit down to eat at the senior table and try to qualify for Worlds. The promotion of ERL-level clubs such as the French team or the Spanish KOI to LEC does not have a sports path, but Riot Games must award them a new place, or these teams with such popularity need to acquire one from an already existing organization.
When Twitter published its ranking of the organizations that made the most noise in the networks during the first 6 months of the year 2022, Karmine Corp proved that it is incredibly popular. And while some fans didn't hesitate to take on G2 Esports, ranked behind KC, Ocelote stepped in with some incendiary but interesting remarks. In addition to defending the team from him, he also made one thing clear to the fans: G2 would be an ally of Karmine for their accession to the LEC .
The ranking that caused controversy
Obviously, Twitter distorts reality a bit, especially since the network is not used in the same way all over the world. In Asia, many countries have their own networks like China with Weibo or South Korea. However, the little blue bird offers an interesting indicator.
Karmine Corp currently doesn't have a team in a major league in League of Legends or Valorant, but their fan base outstrips the rest. During the first quarter of 2022 the KC settled for 5th place worldwide, but if the study is extended to the first 6 months, they have done even better and now ranks 2nd, only behind Brazilians from LOUD.
Kameto's team is therefore more popular than giants like G2 Esports, Fnatic, T1 or FaZe Clan... Riot Games is running out of excuses if they don't include the team in that new 2023 LEC.
Ocelot the ally
Ocelote was not very appreciative of the criticism leveled at G2 Esports and made it clear on social media. He did not hesitate to use incendiary terms such as French orangutans, gangs of degenerates and gargoyles. Obviously, Carlos's words are a game, because his union with France is enormous as his wife is from that country.
But going further, he announced that he was an ally of Karmine Corp and not an enemy. But while there is a widespread narrative within the French community that Europe's greats are holding KC back from making it to the LEC, Ocelote's statement may imply that this is not the case for G2.
If G2 is willing to lend a hand to bring Karmine to the European elite, it is very good news for the French tier. Ocelote is someone very influential in the scene and his opinion counts a lot. But above all he is a businessman, and although the LEC public seems to be in low hours, he would surely welcome the arrival of highly publicized structures such as KC or KOI to make jokes and beautiful games.
